Verse of the Day

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Book Tag Blog Party

01. A fictional character you identify with and why.

Marianne Dashwood
I'm a lot like her in the way that I tend to romanticize things :)

02. Your earliest memory of reading or being read to.
Either my mom reading The Tub People
or my Aunt reading Stephanie's Ponytail.

03. Your favourite book aged 9 ½, or 13 ¾, whichever you remember best.
The Felicity American Girl books.

04. The book that’s been on your shelves the longest.

Junie B. Jones Has a Monster Under Her Bed

05. A book you acquired in some interesting way
The way I got this book isn't as interesting as when I got the book.
I got Junie B., First Grader Toothless Wonder on Easter morning, but the funny part is: that as I was racing to see what was in my Easter basket I lost a tooth.

06. A book with a story for you, that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time).
The A Life of Faith books make me think of my sister because she read the whole series aloud to me.

07. What fictional character are you (secretly) in love with
A lot, but If I told it wouldn't be a secret any more, would it? :)

08. The last book you acquired, and how (begged, bought, borrowed?)
Kilmeny of the Orchard
My sister and I got it today from The Paperback Book Swap

09. Your current read, your last read and the book you’ll read next.

I'm currently reading The Two Towers and I uh... *cough* don't remember the last book I read. :o
I would like to read The Return Of The King next

but it may have to wait till after Great Expectations (I have to read it for school)

10. What author do you own the most books by and why?

Janette Oke
Hayden and I used to help out at a church library and they gave all their extra books to us. They had a lot by her. A lot.

These are more questions; I don't know if I'll get around to them or not though.
11. Do you own multiple copies of any book? What are they? Why do you have multiple copies?
12. Book borrowing – do you use the library? Do you prefer to try before you buy? What about lending your books to friends? Are you a good borrower, do you remember to return books?
13. Do you reread a lot? Why (not)? Name a book you have reread many times.
14. What is the best book you’ve read in the past year?
15. Do you recommend books to other people? If you could force everyone you know to read one book, what would it be?
16. Adaptation: What book would you most like to see made into a film? Do you like to read the book first or see the film? Any books you have read after seeing the film version?
17. What is the most difficult book you’ve ever read?
18. Your favourite book series & your favourite book out of that series
19. Your favourite picture, junior fiction and Young Adult books
20. Least favourite plot device employed by way too many books you actually enjoyed otherwise
21. A book you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving
22. Your "comfort" book
23. Favourite book cover including a picture!
24. Favourite fictional relationship (romantic, friendship, familial)
25. Most annoying character ever
26. Most quotable novel or 5 of your favourite quotes from any books.
27. Any five books from your "to be read" stack. What makes you select a book for your “to be read” stack?
28. Some firsts: First book you remember loving/being obsessed with. First book that made you cry. First book you gave to someone else as a gift.
29. Saddest character death OR best/most satisfying character death (or both!)
30. The End: do you prefer everything tied up or to be able to 'make up your own mind'? What is the worst ending to a book you have read? And the best? (careful, spoiler tags!)

Annie

I just realized that Rooster from the 1999 version of Annie is Mr. Elton! Please tell me I wasn't the only one who didn't know this.

Anyway, I've been wanting to watch Annie lately so I'm posting "NYC". Enjoy!

Ok, I couldn't help myself. Here's "I Think I'm Going to Like it Here" :)

Quote of the Day

We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love."

Disney Blog Party!

Never Grow up is throwing a marvelous Disney Blog Party so here are my answers!

1.  What is your all-time favorite animated Disney film and why?
Tangled.
"What's not to like?" - Prince Edward (Enchanted)
Rapunzel has always been my favorite fairy tale for as long as I can remember, and I just love the way Disney did it! I also really like Tarzan and Enchanted (even if most of that one isn't animated).

2.  What is your all-time favorite Disney/Pixar film and why? [Note:  I realize that questions 1 and 2 may overlap...I just thought this would make it easier for those of us who have favorites in both categories. ;}]
This is always a hard question because Pixar always has such awesome movies! My favorites are probably The Incredibles, Monsters Inc., and A Bug's Life.

3.  What was the first animated Disney film you remember seeing?
I think it was either A Bug's Life or The Little Mermaid.

4.  It's talent night at your school/job/etc...You have to perform a Disney song.  Which one would you choose? When Will My Life Begin?

5.  Name your top 4 Disney heroes or heroines (or any character, for that matter) and talk a little bit about why you admire them.
Heroes:
Flynn Rider - I just love him! He's funny, handsome, and he dies for Rapunzel -the ultimate sacrifice. Plus, he also has that sort of Han Solo cockiness that I love for some unknown reason.

Prince Philip - He was my favorite before Flynn, but then he kinda got pushed to second. He's still a really neat guy though! My favorite part of Sleeping Beauty is during Once Upon a Dream whe he comes up behind Aurora and starts singing with her *sigh* :)

Heroines:
Rapunzel - She's so cute! and I love her personality! Both she and Flynn can be very sacrificial.

Edna Mode- She's not a heroine, she's just funny.

6.  Who, in your opinion, is the most hideous Disney villain of all time?
Jafar

7.  If you could spend a day with any Disney character, who would you choose?  How would you spend your day?Flynn Rider - convincing him that it's me he loves and not Rapunzel. Just Kidding ;)
Rhino - basking in his awesomeness and getting some to rub off on me. :)

8.  Which Disney character is the most like you?Cogsworth :) but uh... no mustache

9.  What, in your opinion, is one of the greatest movie moments in an animated Disney film? Andy giving away his toys in Toy Story 3 *sniff*

10.  If you could pick which film Disney would make next, what would the film be? The Princess and the Pea, but they would have to listen to all my ideas too, because I already have a bunch of ideas about how the movie should go. :)

What I've Been Reading

I went to the library. (Yea!) So, here is what I've been reading.
Hayden actually checked this one out but I'm reading it, and so far it's really good.
I was thinking that this was probably going to be one of those books you start to read but don't finish because it's either too boring or too hard to understand, but from what I read so far, this guy's really good at breaking it all down and making this programming stuff understandable.

I've really been wanting to play an instrument and we have a piano, so I decided to try to teach myself. This book seems to be working; as I can play (kinda badly, but getting better) stuff like Yankee Doodle and Mary Had a Little Lamb.
At first, the guy who wrote this book was getting on my nerves a little bit by his corny jokes when all I wanted to do was learn to play piano, but as the book progressed, his jokes have either gotten better or I'm getting used to them. And no, I'm not a dummy. :)

I thought candlemaking would be fun so I got this book. I'm just now getting to the part of how to make candles, because the first half was mostly history, which suprisingly was pretty interesting. The only bad thing so far was a chapter called "Candlemaking as a Sacred Art" which told about new age and false religious practice type stuff that I skipped over.

So, that's what I've been reading. I haven't been able to find any good fiction books though so, if any one has some suggestions on good classic literature, Christian fiction, or appropriate fantasy, I'd be happy to hear your input.

Quote of the Day and Happy Easter

I know I just did a quote, but yesterday my brother said something really funny. At least I thought so. But first you have to know that my brother Harrison can do the smolder (from Tangled). Well, Yesterday we had some friends over, and they knew Harry could do it so they asked if they could see it. Sitting neerby was my six year old brother Joey. So, Joey runs up to Harrison takes him to our friends and says:

"Harrison, these ladies want to see your smolder."
(We all start laughing)
"Show us the smolder!"

If only you could have heard in what voice Joey said it because it makes it so much funnier. :)

Happy Easter Everybody!

He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where he lay.
- Matthew 28:6

Quote of the Day

Today's lovely quote comes from my sister, and might need some explaining. My sister and I share a room. Last night we were singing together when she stopped, and said something I thought was hilarious because she said it with all seriousness.

"I have to stop singing now, because when I sing, I scrunch up my eyebrows, and my eyebrows are getting sore."

What I've Been Reading

This week I've re-read some really great books.

I also went to the library to read some new ones.

I actually hadn't read Peter Pan before so I thought I should. I also wanted to read Robin Hood, but I couldn't find it at the library. :( I didn't get to stay at the library very long though, so I didn't find any other books besides Peter Pan. Hopefully I can go back to the library soon, but I'm thinkin' that it would be smart to make a list of books to get before I go so I spend less time looking and more time checking out so can get more books. :)

Yea! I finished rewriting  my bubble gum speech! I'm sooooooooooo happy! This Monday is my last day of speech class, so I'm excited that I'm going to be done, but I'm still going to miss it.

But, anyway what's your favorite typ of gum and what's the biggest bubble you've ever blown?

Thursday, April 7, 2011

I actually got it.

A few days ago, we got the movie. We got Tangled. It was even better then I remembered. I am content.

This movie is just so beautiful! From the forests,
to the spectacular lantern scenes
I couldn't help thinking that I will not know what to do with myself when I get to heaven, since that will be better than anything imaginable. I think I would die from the beauty -but if I'm in heaven I'd already be dead... hmmm

Cars 2 Pixar Short: Ken and Barbie

One of the main reasons I want to see Cars 2 is because of the Pixar short. I LOVE Pixar's movie shorts. The next one is supposed to be about Buzz and Woody making a "Hawaii" for Ken and Barbie. Looks funny! Teaser below!

Tangled Concept Art

My sister got The Art of Tangled concept art book. I'm so happy for me! uh, her.
The pictures are soooooo pretty! That is except for some kind of scary ones of Mother Gothel... *shiver* I could just stare at the pictures all day, they're so gorgeous!!! Not that I, uh, *cough* have or anything. But Hayden says she's going to do a review of it, so I won't, and will let her do that because she's better at that kind of stuff than me. So... A linky for my sister!

Lord of the Rings

Ok, everyone is always talking about Lord of the Rings and how great it is. I hadn't seen them. So, I did. They were awesome. So to celebrate... My favorite quotes!

The Fellowship of the Ring

Gandalf: Confound it all, Samwise Gamgee. Have you been eavesdropping?
Sam: I ain't been droppin' no eaves sir, honest. I was just cutting the grass under the window there, if you'll follow me.
Gandalf: A little late for trimming the verge, don't you think?
Sam: I heard raised voices.
Gandalf: What did you hear? Speak.
Sam: N-nothing important. That is, I heard a good deal about a ring, and a Dark Lord, and something about the end of the world, but... Please, Mr. Gandalf, sir, don't hurt me. Don't turn me into anything... unnatural.

Aragorn: Gentlemen, we do not stop 'til nightfall.
Pippin: What about breakfast?
Aragorn: You've already had it.
Pippin: We've had one, yes. What about second breakfast?
[Aragorn turns and walks off in disgust]
Merry: I don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip.
Pippin: What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?
Merry: I wouldn't count on it.

[Merry and Pippin are leading the orcs away from Frodo]
Pippin: It's working!
Merry: I know it's working! Run!

Frodo: Go back, Sam. I'm going to Mordor alone.
Sam: Of course you are. And I'm coming with you.

The Two Towers

Sam: What we need is a few good taters.
Gollum: What's taters, precious? What's taters, eh?
Sam: *Po-tay-toes!* Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew... Lovely big golden chips with a nice piece of fried fish.
[Gollum makes a noise of disgust while sticking his tongue out]
Sam: Even you couldn't say no to that.
Gollum: Oh yes we could. Spoilin' nice fish. Give it to us raw and w-r-r-riggling... you keep nasty chips.
Sam: You're hopeless.

Treebeard: We have just agreed...
[Merry and Pippin lean in]
Merry: Yes?
Treebeard: I have told your names to the Entmoot, and we have agreed you are not orcs.
Pippin: Well, that's good news.

Gimli: Oh come on, we can take 'em.
Aragorn: It's a long way.
Gimli: Toss me.
Aragorn: What?
Gimli: I cannot jump the distance, you'll have to toss me.
[pauses, looks up at Aragorn]
Gimli: Don't tell the elf.
Aragorn: Not a word.

The Return of the King

Gandalf: [to Pippin] Now, listen carefully. Lord Denethor is Boromir's father. To give him news of his beloved son's death would be most unwise. And do not mention Frodo, or the Ring. And say nothing of Aragorn either. In fact, it's better if you don't speak at all, Peregrin Took.

Sam: What are you up to? Sneaking off, are we?
Gollum: Sneaking? Sneaking? Fat Hobbit is always so polite. Smeagol shows them secret ways that nobody else could find, and they say "sneak!" Sneak? Very nice friend. Oh, yes, my precious. Very nice, very nice.
Sam: All right, all right! You just startled me is all. What were you doing?
Gollum: Sneaking.

[after Legolas single-handedly takes out an Oliphant and its drivers]
Gimli: That still only counts as one.

Gimli: Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with an Elf.
Legolas: What about side by side with a friend?
Gimli: Aye. I could do that.

Sam: Then let us be rid of it... once and for all! Come on, Mr. Frodo. I can't carry it for you... but I can carry you!

These of course aren't all of my favorite quotes, just some. :)
